So close, yet so far..

Pictures to follow, but I've now got 1,450 points more or less modelled and built. I need to finish a Hive Tyrant with a good dose of green stuff and make some Meiotic spores to be as tall as Mucolids, but I'm nearly there.  I also managed a brief game against one of my friends; it's the first time either of us have played 7th and we loved it, even if the Eldar did blow me to bits.
Now just another 1,050 points to purchase and model before the painting commences.
Thus far 45 Gargoyles, 2 Mucolids, 3 Flyrants, 2 Harpies and a Crone; It's like a flying circus!
Wish me luck!

The grind.

I knew that 45 gargoyles would be a chore, but my days! Still, 26 down and 4 to go for this batch. I've still got to get 10 more (I have 5 kindly donated from my neighbour, go figure he plays 40K too!), then I'm done!
Huzzah!

Gribblies ahoy!

I figured that this wouldn't be a plog without progress shots, so here we go!
For those that aren't 100% au fait with Nids, this is the starting of my Skyblight formation; 1x Hive Tyrant, 1x Hive Crone, 2x Harpies and 3x broods of Gargoyles.
The painted Harpy and Crone were a steal off ebay, but the downside of this being that they aren't 100% correct as per the instructions and they are terribly based. Not the end of the world. I'm a stickler for not winging it, per se, but a few pieces from my newly purchased kit saw them right. Yay!
The last Harpy is magnetised to include both weapons options (very easy I must say) and the Flyrant is armless for the very same reason. I'm waiting for a delivery of some FW twin linked Devourers, so they will be magnetised and undercoated as soon as they arrive. How very exciting.
Finally the Gargoyles. Oh the Gargoyles. There are currently 22 and I'm aiming for 45. My days this is a struggle! I'm settling with building four at a time, because although I do enjoy the modelling aspect of the hobby, this really is a grind. I'm sure painting them will be much the same joy. The Space Marine captain is there for size comparison; I don't think that any of my friends have seen Nids en masse, so I thought I'd add him in for mind games.
I have other goodies on my workbench, but I'll save them for another update!

In the beginning there were Nids. So. Many. Nids.

With various thoughts around my growing collection of hobbies that I enjoy, I figured that I would find a place to put all of my geeky musings into one project log.  I say geeky as if it were a derogatory term, don’t get me fooled, I love it, but I definitely keep it shut away in my spare room the majority of the time.

Alas, of late my friends convinced me that starting 40K again would be a good idea, so I thought why not.  I thoroughly enjoy the lore, modelling, painting and gaming aspect so why not I thought.

It’ll be fun”, they said.  You’ll love it”, they said.

Boom, I’ve then convinced myself it was a good idea and we have a 2,500 point challenge on the table.  Two thousand, five hundred.  Despite collecting and trying to play Marines up until I was about 14 or so, when looking back into the hobby ~2012 I had a bit of a thing for Tyranids, as they were always a firm favourite of mine.  I was always drawn to the 2nd Ed Marenus Calgar, Wraithlord and Hive Tyrant models as a kid, so I figured this time around I would stick to Nids again opposed to ‘another’ Imperial Army.  In 2012  this never stuck as I couldn’t make the time for it, but things change and live moves on.

So, my point.  2,500 points of Nids is a daunting task, so let’s see how I get on.  I have a basic list that I am working to, which I shan't publish just yet; I wouldn't want prying eyes to get a glimpse just yet.  I will however keep a record of my progress here even if only for my own personal benefit.  Check back if you're interested for my musings, rants and progress.
